The Tesamorelin math explained

You get the strength by dividing the amount in the vial by the water. With 2 mL of water in a 10 mg vial, each mL holds 5 mg. First, divide your dose by the strength to find the mL; then multiply by 100 to get units on a U-100 syringe.

A 1.4 mg dose from that vial comes to 0.28 mL, or 28 units.

Is Tesamorelin FDA-approved?

It is FDA-approved for one use in adults with HIV, sold under the names Egrifta SV and Egrifta WR; research vials are not FDA-approved. We list only the label steps taken from the FDA label; with any other vial, your prescriber sets your dose.

Questions people ask

For a 10 mg Tesamorelin vial, how much water do I add?

How much water you use is up to you; it only affects how strong each mL is. Using 2 mL gives you 5 mg in each mL; adding more water lowers the amount per unit, so you can measure lower doses more easily.

How many units equal a dose of 1 mg of Tesamorelin?

That depends on how strong your mix is. At 5 mg/mL, 1 mg works out to 20 units. Type your own vial and water into the calculator and your number appears.

How long is mixed Tesamorelin good for?

Follow the storage line shown on your product or prescription. CDC guidance says that you should use bacteriostatic water itself within 28 days after the first needle.
