Semaglutide calculator
Enter your Semaglutide vial size and the water you added, along with your dose, and see the units to draw on your U-100 insulin syringe.
Just for reference. Your dose is set by your prescriber or by the product label; all we do here is convert it to units.

The math behind Semaglutide dosing
To find the strength, divide the amount in the vial by the water. With 2 mL of water, a 5 mg vial holds 2.5 mg in every mL. Take your dose, divide by that strength for mL, then multiply by 100 to get units on a U-100 syringe.
From that vial, 250 mcg works out to 0.1 mL, or 10 units.
A quick look at Semaglutide units
| Your dose | 5 mg vial + 2 mL | 10 mg vial + 2 mL |
|---|---|---|
| 250 mcg | 10 units | 5 units |
| 500 mcg | 20 units | 10 units |
| 1 mg | 40 units | 20 units |
| 1.7 mg | 68 units | 34 units |
| 2 mg | 80 units | 40 units |
| 2.4 mg | 96 units | 48 units |
Each cell shows how far to fill a U-100 syringe when you use that vial and water.
Label doses for Semaglutide in units
For each dose step in these tables, the source is the FDA label (the Wegovy label on DailyMed and Ozempic label on DailyMed); the figures are unit amounts for compounded or research vials. Which step is yours is decided by your prescriber.
Injected under the skin once a week: Wegovy
| Label step | Dose | 5 mg + 2 mL | 10 mg + 2 mL |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weeks 1-4 | 250 mcg | 10 units | 5 units |
| Weeks 5-8 | 500 mcg | 20 units | 10 units |
| Weeks 9-12 | 1 mg | 40 units | 20 units |
| Weeks 13-16 | 1.7 mg | 68 units | 34 units |
| Week 17 on (usual maintenance) | 2.4 mg | 96 units | 48 units |
Injected under the skin once a week: Ozempic
| Label step | Dose | 5 mg + 2 mL | 10 mg + 2 mL |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weeks 1-4 | 250 mcg | 10 units | 5 units |
| Week 5 on | 500 mcg | 20 units | 10 units |
| If needed, after at least 4 weeks | 1 mg | 40 units | 20 units |
| If needed, and not before 4 weeks at 1 mg | 2 mg | 80 units | 40 units |
Is Semaglutide FDA-approved?
Ozempic and Wegovy are FDA-approved; both come as prefilled pens from Novo Nordisk, while compounded and research vials do not have FDA-approved status. Only label steps from the FDA label appear here; for any other vial, your prescriber sets the dose.
Questions people ask often
For a 5 mg Semaglutide vial, how much water do I add?
Choosing the water amount is up to you; all it does is change how strong each mL is. Using 2 mL gives 2.5 mg per mL; adding more water means each unit holds less, so small doses are easier to measure.
What number of units equals 1 mg of Semaglutide?
That depends on how strong your mix is. At 2.5 mg/mL, 1 mg comes to 40 units. Type your own vial size and water amount in the calculator, and your number appears.
How long does mixed Semaglutide stay good?
Follow the storage instructions on your product or prescription. Per CDC guidance, use bacteriostatic water within 28 days after the first needle.
