How to reconstitute Semaglutide: water added to the vial wall

Steps to mix Semaglutide

  1. After washing your hands, wipe the peptide vial, the bacteriostatic water and each of the two rubber stoppers with an alcohol swab.
  2. Put the water you chose into the syringe. When you add 2 mL to a 5 mg vial, the result is 2.5 mg per mL.
  3. At a slight angle, insert the needle through the stopper; let the water flow slowly along the vial's inner wall.
  4. Until the powder is gone, roll the vial gently in your hands. Don't shake it.
  5. Mark the vial with the mix date and keep it as your product or prescription directs.
  6. First, work out the units for your dose; draw to that line afterward.

Mixing a 5 mg vial

When you add 2 mL of water to a 5 mg vial, you get 2.5 mg per mL. A 250 mcg dose comes to 10 units, and a 1 mg dose comes to 40 units. If you use 1 mL instead, each mL contains 5 mg, which makes the same 250 mcg equal to 5 units.

What the label tells you

Ozempic and Wegovy are FDA-approved and come as prefilled pens from Novo Nordisk. Vials that are compounded or used for research are not FDA-approved. The instructions that come with branded pens and vials take precedence over any general steps.

Questions people often ask

What amount of bacteriostatic water does 5 mg of Semaglutide need?

There isn't one correct amount. With 2 mL, you get 2.5 mg per mL; adding more water lowers the amount in each unit, so small doses are easier to draw.

Can I mix Semaglutide with sterile water?

Because sterile water is preservative-free and single use, a vial that you mix and draw from over several days is usually prepared with bacteriostatic water. Read about bacteriostatic water vs sterile water.
