MOTS-c dosage calculator
Enter your MOTS-c vial size, the amount of water you added and your dose; this shows the units to draw with a U-100 insulin syringe.
This is for reference only. Your dose is set by your prescriber or the product label; here we only convert it into units.

Working out the MOTS-c math
You get the strength by dividing the amount in the vial by the water. When 10 mg is mixed with 2 mL of water, each mL contains 5 mg. Divide your dose by that strength for mL, then multiply by 100 to get units on a U-100 syringe.
From that vial, 100 mcg equals 0.02 mL, or 2 units.
A quick look at MOTS-c units
| Your dose | 10 mg vial + 2 mL | 40 mg vial + 2 mL | 50 mg vial + 5 mL |
|---|---|---|---|
| 400 mcg | 8 units | 2 units | 4 units |
| 500 mcg | 10 units | 2.5 units | 5 units |
| 750 mcg | 15 units | 3.8 units | 7.5 units |
| 1 mg | 20 units | 5 units | 10 units |
| 1.5 mg | 30 units | 7.5 units | 15 units |
| 2 mg | 40 units | 10 units | 20 units |
| 2.5 mg | 50 units | 12.5 units | 25 units |
| 3 mg | 60 units | 15 units | 30 units |
| 4 mg | 80 units | 20 units | 40 units |
Each cell shows the line you should draw to on a U-100 syringe when using that vial and water.
So is MOTS-c FDA-approved?
No FDA-approved status exists for any use in people; it is sold as a research chemical. Since no FDA label exists, there is no official dose. We just convert the dose you already have.
Questions people often ask
For a 10 mg MOTS-c vial, how much water do I add?
The amount of water is your choice, and it affects only the strength of each mL. If you use 2 mL, each mL contains 5 mg. Adding more water lowers the amount in each unit and helps you measure small doses.
How many syringe units equal 1 mg of MOTS-c?
That depends on how strong your mix is. At 5 mg/mL, 1 mg equals 20 units. Use your own vial and water details in the calculator, and it will give you the number.
How long will a mixed MOTS-c solution last?
Follow the storage guidance shown on your product or prescription. Per CDC guidance, use bacteriostatic water itself within 28 days after the first needle.
