Understanding PT-141 calculations
You find the strength by dividing the amount in the vial by the water. When you add 2 mL of water to a 10 mg vial, each mL contains 5 mg. Divide your dose by the strength to find mL, then multiply that amount by 100 to calculate U-100 syringe units.
With that vial, 1.75 mg equals 0.35 mL, or 35 units.
PT-141 unit amounts at a glance
| Your dose | 10 mg vial + 2 mL |
|---|---|
| 1.75 mg | 35 units |
For each vial and water amount, the cell gives the U-100 syringe line to draw to.
Label dose amounts for PT-141 in units
Dose steps shown here follow the FDA label (Vyleesi label on DailyMed); we express each one in units for compounded or research vials. Which step is yours is decided by your prescriber.
Using Vyleesi under the skin as needed
| Label step | Dose | 10 mg + 2 mL |
|---|---|---|
| Per use, at least 45 minutes before | 1.75 mg | 35 units |
Is PT-141 FDA-approved?
Research vials are not FDA-approved, while Vyleesi (bremelanotide), a 1.75 mg autoinjector, is. Only label steps taken from the FDA label appear here; your prescriber sets the dose for any other vial.
Questions people often ask
For a PT-141 vial of 10 mg, how much water should I add?
You choose the amount of water; it only affects the strength of each mL. Adding 2 mL produces 5 mg per mL; more water lowers the amount in each unit and helps you measure small doses.
For 1 mg of PT-141, what unit amount do you draw?
This depends on how strong your mixture is. When the strength is 5 mg/mL, 1 mg equals 20 units. Use the calculator to enter your vial and water for your result.
How long does mixed PT-141 stay usable?
Follow the storage instructions on your product or prescription. Per CDC guidance, use bacteriostatic water within 28 days after the first needle.
